by: Paul Angelo Fernando These are the 3 major points I learned from the speaker Mr. Malcolm Garma in the ICT Summit 2017 held at the Harvest Hotel last March 14,2017. The success of the event as hosted by CAL (Computer Assisted Learning was achieved together with other speakers; Mr. Severino Santos, Mr. Francis Hernandez and Ms. Diana Sadie. Being the one only student in the conference for school teachers and administrators, it gave me a bit of a culture shock at the start, but as the event progressed, I slowly became comfortable because I was already gaining new learning. The conference focused on the potentials of integrating ICT education with the theme "Inspire". As the I listened to the speakers, I realized that all of the discussions are about topics as seen through teachers perspectives and I took it as an opportunity to be exposed to their insights and use it to reflect on my experiences as a student. With such perspective, I learned how important it is for the teachers to be an effective instructor as they revolutionize education with ICT; integrating or linking concepts of one subject to another, innovating teaching by identifying the learners and their interest and by indigenization. Other speakers also tackled the stepping stones to the success of integrating ICT in education. Through collaboration, education in the Philippines is slowly improving for the better. As a student who belongs to the modern generation, learning is inevitable through technology. This tells a millennial like me to use the power of ICT in producing knowledge. Our skills should always be partnered with creativity because it will help us in getting a career in a technology demanding world.
